Nope mod tools are coming to PS4 just at a later date compared to XB1. Bethesda and Microsoft have a great relationship dating all the way back to the OG Xbox hence they decided to focus on the XB1 mod support first.

I’m not downplaying the XB1’s year just simply stating that your statement that the XB1 has the better content now and the foreseeable future is not a fact but simply your opinion. Whatever system has the best line up will always be subjective I mean there are some gamers that feel Nintendo has the best line up of the three.

Not a good example given this whole story strictly mentions US sales figures for disc media. You’re right, but when you’ve got one console with multiple AAA exclusives that cannot be played on another console, that’s more content and technically better by default, given there’s nothing original landing on the PS4 that anyone is talking about. You had Halo 5, Tomb Raider, Forza 6, a Gears remaster and over 100 games being implemented by backwards compatibility in the last month only on Xbox One. I combed though the PS4’s success stories – they had the PS2 backwards compatibility program being rolled out. That’s it, and unfortunately the PS2, while it has a SLEW of games, is not being raved about anywhere I’ve been looking – and I spend way too much time combing through peoples’ opinions. I’m personally not trying to knock it, but if Microsoft said “we’re bringing original Xbox games to Xbox One”, I’d say “who cares?” Other than Fusion Frenzy and Crimson Tides I can’t think of game I’d ever bother playing from the old Xbox console.

Who has the better content now and the foreseeable future is all subjective. For example if your a gamer that loves Japanese games or fighting games, the PS4 demolishes the XB1.

“schroeder” seems to only be commenting on your stuff for the most part because you were making pretty pointed assumptions based off this recycled news bit. i don’t meant to be a troll, but you would not call an election race based on half the data so you can’t say any of these games are outselling the others because you don’t have the votes in yet. xbox wire tossed out some interesting sales facts and schroeder seems to be pulling from some of that data (i think anyway) so his points have more sure footing compared to what you’re going on about.

if you read the source article from venturebeat and if you’ve ever read the npd then you would know that they’re not a credible source of information. notice that they omit sales numbers? that’s because they don’t have them. they have approximations, guess-work, limited insider data that gives them an idea of what’s going on but they neither have the answer nor do they own a crystal ball to see the future. i’ve read some good articles by them and some that were complete rubbish. they’re just another analytical group that keeps its sources unknown so nobody can get a sense of how errant they really are. in that sense, they’re smart but we’re the fools that take real meaning from it all.

i know the US is a big seller for games and systems, but those of us outside the US account for a large piece of the pie too. the data here cites only US sales, but europe, australia, japan, canada and others are vacant. throw the list out, it means nothing.

Supply was a launch window problem, not a today problem. Who has the better deals will get the better sales. Microsoft outright owns Sony when it comes to content at this time (and for the foreseeable future), but the only way Microsoft is going to surge forward is converting its Xbox 360 user base to the Xbox One and remaining the best deal in town. PS4 is literally defying what 100% of analysts and game-makers bank on: content sells the system, not the other way around. Microsoft has the better games overall, but Sony still keeps pace. In the U.S. that’s incredible because Sony is not succeeding with American-appeal type of games and instead has content more catered to Japan (in terms of exclusives).

And it does change the facts: the NPD is not an official sales group – they are an independent analytic group that crunches data based on market analysis. They do not have access to actual sales figured for any games company. “NPD’s report is for new games sold at U.S. physical retailers. That means digital games, mobile, and GameStop’s second-hand market do not contribute to this report” – again this list is for physical content, and as I’ve already pointed out earlier digital sales were at an all-time high this year during the busiest shopping time of the year.

Here’s another fact to support my topic: Halo Xbox bundles don’t count toward the sales figures here because Halo bundled in with any console is a digital download, not a physical product. Again, there’s a lot we don’t know about it but seeing how the Xbox Store saw it’s highest traffic and sales volume ever in the history of the product line in November I’m willing to bet there’s a substantial chunk of exclusive sales missing here. Well XB1 was best-selling in October with just Halo being the only exclusive launched that month, and in the final 5 days of the month at-that. Since digital sales aren’t included we can’t make any definitive statements, only general assumptions. Since Halo wasn’t a November release there’s a huge number of those games sales missing since 400k people bought it in its first few days. This is a physical copy sale only. Digital sales are on the rise as Microsoft has reported that their online store traffic bumped up over 50% during the Black Friday period, which means that there was a significant jump in digital sales this year. That’s enough info to at least assume there’s a considerable total-sales missing for Halo 5 and Rise of the Tomb Raider.

And both the PS4 and XB1 sold very well, with a near-tie (it was reported that there was less than 5,000 sold devices that separated the sales performance in November but neither company is reporting on actual sales).

Great, I never said nobody bought digital – I made the case that platform exclusives like Halo are popular and aren’t games that get traded or sold away the same way that franchised games do. I rarely buy digital, but I bought Halo 5 digital because it’s a game that has a lot to it post-launch and it’s the darling of Xbox. Everything else I’ve purchased as physical discs so I can resell them down the road.

FO4 sold more on PS4 because it has maybe an extra 13 million potential buyers. But the XB1 has the better deal with the FO3 game included plus the mod tool, which as I understand it is never coming to PS4.

Are you stupid son? October comes before November, what kind of air-headed reply was that? Furthermore, if you really wanna get down to it, there are significantly more PS4 consoles than XB1 consoles at this moment. When you have 30M PS4s roaming the earth and maybe 17M XB1s, you’re always going to be at a disadvantage in terms of raw sales because your pool is so much smaller to draw from. Having said that, I’m going to restate my last point.

Halo – came out in October, reflects OCTOBER sales. This page reflects only November sales, so that huge initial draw was not included in the month of November. BO3, FO4, etc all had that benefit. Simple business mathematics. And that 400k first-week figure was a record-setter for Halo, so that’s where we all are.
