For me the Wii U has mostly collected dust though it’s gotten more use than my XB 1…the majority of my play time has been on PS4 and 3DS with a good chunk on the Vita as well. It all depends on the games you like – for me it’s all about JRPG so X1 is completely out with NONE, Wii U is limited though I’m way psyched for Xenoblade Chronicles X which I pre-ordered but PS4 has been fairly good with Tales of Zestiria, a new Star Ocean pending and a few others. the 3DS has been excellent though with a bunch of excellent games and Vita has been pretty good as well with Tales of Hearts R, Conception and a few others. As far as cross platform – I played the heck out of the latest Diablo on PS4. If I had to pick only one home console it would be PS4 but if you include portables in that – then I would have to go with the 3DS. But that is only because of the games I like – a person who plays FPS or any shooters would definitely choose very differently.

Um come take a look at my library of games and you’ll change your mind about that statement. Especially after rehashing mario for 30years

Guys, let’s just be honest with ourselves shall we? NEITHER the Xbox or the PS4 have great games. That is what a Wii U is for. Gameplay > graphics. Games > sales. Sad to get caught up is stuff that just so meaningless with the objective is to have a lot of fun, right?

I can see how that would work for someone. I have Wii U, PS4, and gaming PC. But, personally I couldn’t ever go with a Wii U as my only gaming console. Honestly, the OS on any Nintendo product is always terrible, and it would drive me crazy. Even the menu system on most Nintendo games is bad. Look at smash brothers for instance.

Third party is what a PC or a laptop with half decent specs are for. PC plus Wii U is the only way to go this gen.

If you had kids you would understand. Xbox One is a console ONLY for single adult male gamers. The Wii U in contrast is a console gaming masterpiece for everyone. It is not that the Xbox One is bad, just no where near the majesty of the Wii U for quality gaming for the whole family. Also, the Virtual Console is a retro gaming juggernaut that most people don’t even know about, because most people don’t have a Wii U, sadly.

Also, it’s really nice to have a conversation with an Xbox guy that is reasonable on this site. The main Xbox fan (the one you mentioned me commenting on before) here can’t have a conversation, it’s amazing really.

Yes, Share Play is basically just sharing a local session of a game. It’s got its uses but isn’t the same. Like it’s good for games like towerfall, which are normally local only coop games and you can’t play them online otherwise.

On the PSN side though, if you login to someone’s PS4, they have access to your library of games. I can’t remember what the limit is on how many PS4s you can do that on, it’s either 3 or 5.

Of course sharing on XB1 like that is strictly digital games

Definitely right about all the stuff with Microsoft and Playstation taking advantage of those mistakes. I just enjoy external harddrive support. That was added last year and its still absent from playstation other than the max 3TB with internals. I also love sharing my whole library with my buddy if Im not mistaken Playstations game share is locked to an hour at a time only for co op games

PS4 was partially sold on hype for sure. It was also sold because of bad messaging from MS, It also got bandwagon sales, it also had the price advantage, and PS built up a lot of good will from gamers from the previous gen. Sony supported the PS3 a lot more towards the end of last generation than MS did with the 360, so people were still talking about Sony exclusives when this gen came around, and in my opinion, that helped. Crackdown 3 looks awesome, I agree. I don’t currently have an X1 as I’m not a Halo fan or racing fan, but I definitely am picking one up next year, hopefully the slim edition is announced at E3 2016. Looking forward to SB, QB, Gears 4, and CD3. The guys building the Crackdown tech (Cloudgine) have also said the tech they are using is not exclusive to CD3 or MS, so can be licensed to other devs/pubs, so hopefully it’s a success and works as advertised and others get on that train.

Oh yeah def. Side not you mentioned another commentor talking about Playstation was sold on hype. It pretty much was.Sony guranteed 1080 60fps as well as many devs did before it came out. Xbox and PS4 is just as powerful as one another. Though on paper PS4 is more powerful and by releases. It really does require more work to develop on XB1 vs PS4. Now if you remember PS3 was more powerful and in some ways that cell architecture is still mire powerful than PS4 and Xbox One but its too hard to develop for. Microsoft announced cloud power and too early but they are about to release it with Crackdown 3. Looks phenomenal

Yeah there are definitely PS Plus users on PS3. Definitely not as many though as it wasn’t a requirement to play games online last gen from the Sony side. The 60 million logged in a year figure is interesting. That’s obviously a ton, and grats to MS on that. What’s funny by just looking at that statistic is, Nintendo doesn’t see the value in online services, yet that’s a ton of money they are missing out on. The only thing about that 60 million figure I’d like to know, just from a curiosity stand point, is that including the free trials of X1 or only paid subs. I believe Playstation’s figure is concurrent subs, and it sounds like the above figure is different subs logging in throughout the course of the year. With that said, XBL trumps PSN as far as user base (and many other facets) hands down. I’m just curious on how the numbers compare, that’s all.

And what does Playstation have? Gears of War Ultimate Edition if you buy and play before the years up they give you Gears of War 1, 2, 3, & judgement. Fallout 4 you get 3 for free. Buy Rainbow Six Siege get Vegas 1 & 2. Tomb Raider (which is damn good) Forza 6, there is so much potential with Xbox. I like Playstation I really do but they need to retgink stuff. Congrats on 30million sales but not on ingenuity

Idk what you guys are talking about but with all of my games I enjoy them a lot onXbox from triple AAA titles to indie games and budget games. I dont have kids but Ive got relatives and friends kids that enjoy many of the games

Playstation Plus is also for PS3. And theres at least some players on the older platform of devs wouldnt waste money still making games for it. Xbox has about 60million subscribers logged in every year and though thats including Xbox 360 thats just more users on Xbox Platforms. For those still on the 360 and now they can access their games via backwards compatibility its a guarantee for them to switch to the XB1

Well there are over 18m active PS Plus subscriptions right now. So more than half play online. I know Xbox Live has a ton of subs but that includes 360 subs too. I’d be curious to see the X1 subs to see if the two have a comparable attachment rate for subscriptions.

This is a market research study, not sales numbers. It is silly to crown a “winner” before sales reports come out.

So sad that kids these days care more about sales than actual games. They care about graphics instead of gameplay.

Meanwhile, I and the kids are having way more fun with the Wii U than we ever had on the Xbox One. That is all that matters to us. Keep your Xbox One if you want, but I personally sold mine on Craigslist a few months ago. Nobody played it after we got the Wii U.
