Yes this exactly what I been wanting for Quantic Dream to do. Ever since that Kara tech demo I wanted them to flesh it out into a full on story game. The name could have been better though.

I think Quantic Dream games are the opposite of what you said, Their controls don't get in the way of the experience. Anyone, from seasoned vet to new gamer, can enjoy their games as long as they can follow on-screen demands. To me, their games are the most accessible out there. Try putting Destiny, or any other modern game, in the hands of a non-gamer and they will be intimidated by the complex controls. In contrast, Quantic Dream games offer intuitive controls that don't require years of gaming mastery to fully enjoy.

Now, do I think ALL games need to be this way? Of course not. I like blowing off heads just like anyone else. The more variety we have in gaming, the better off we'll be. I say that last part because there are many (even some on Throwdown) who think these type of games shouldn't exist. I don't think you're that type of person, but I know a lot feel this way and it makes me sad because Quantic Dreams are creating riveting experiences that are outside the norm for modern games.

Thanks for that comment, man! I kind of disagree with you a bit but I like how you phrased things. Very intelligently!

Here we go again. I love the stories that David Cage and his crew at Quantic Dreams have to tell, but the actual gameplay is always shite. Faranheit/Indigo Prophecy was the best of the bunch. Heavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls were both way too fiddly/gimmicky, I had more fun just watching them.

I know everyone is trying hard these days to redefine how games are seen or experienced, but at the core the gameplay should be engaging, the control shouldn't be a barrier to the narrative.

It makes me consider some of the the comments about Destiny from a recent throwdown- about it being the gaming equivalent of comfort food. While it certainly seems to be "the game that lived", that X factor that gave it legs to survive it's first year was that Bungie put the gameplay above all else, that moving through the world and interacting with it was intuitive. That popping the head off a Dreg for the nth time was as satisfying as the first, a feeling that very much echoes the feeling of endlessly stomping Goombas or shooting those weird spiny things in Brinstar from my childhood.

David Cage's games stand almost in antithesis to this, the game elements trying bravely to fit with the filmic elements. They are beautiful disasters. I look forward to Detroit, but I'll likely end up watching it on YouTube rather than soldiering through the gameplay.
