Thanks for the link! Wow, that does look like a different combat engine altogether. But I guess the commenters on the other site were right: it doesn’t look like it’s a numbered entry so they can veer off the beaten path. If that’s the case, I’m thinking ancient prequel…detailing the events that led to the Valkyrie disappearing from Europa.

There aren’t many details out there, but there are a few screens. I’d agree it was a JRPG before as well. I don’t know how the combat will work but all I read was that it was becoming a “full fledged JRPG”. So I assume that means random battles, open worldish, not mission based like before, with the strategy part removed. Personally I LOVED the strategy part of the game, but I’ll also give this the benefit of the doubt before I judge it. If you want to see screens, Tony’s boys at Dualshocker’s posted them:

Do you mean that it’s going to a turn-based system? I mean technically I would call Valkyria Chronicles a JRPG series for the sake of various design tropes, but it’s more like “Okay, I’ll lump it into the JRPG category” because navigating the battlefield isn’t like your standard strategy RPG experience.

Apparently it is no longer a SRPG and is becoming a JRPG.
