The dictionary, which is fact, disagrees with you. You do not have to lie to spin. You can spin “facts”. To make their numbers look better MS spun the fact that those 6 million were Xbox One and 360 sales combined.

Here we go! Now I can properly explain what I meant since Twitter is horrible for that.

Tor, remember when we were growing up there was a phrase “give your spin of it”? This meant to tell your version of something. You would say be using facts but using those facts to suit the tale you wanted to tell. “Spinning.”

For whatever reason, and I blame this on Bill O’Reilly, “spinning” now means lying. Maybe that is the modern version of it, but I use it in the classical sense “spinning” means you are taking facts and arranging them to suit your purposes. You’re not actually lying.

Let’s look at Sony. Sony doesn’t have to spin sales this gen because they are on top. Last gen they did because they were doing that combined sales nonsense that MS is now doing. Conversely, MS gave actual sales numbers last gen because they were beasting. Since they aren’t on top anymore, they have to spin things and show the combined sales of Xbox One and Xbox 360. They’re not lying, they are just spinning facts to suit their ends.

Chris helped me with this editorial and he beat every Halo game. He agrees Uncharted has a good chance of outselling Halo. You don’t need to have played or beaten either Uncharted or Halo to see where things are headed. You just have to look at the facts.

For all we know, Halo 5 will ship 6 million and Uncharted 4 will sell 4.5 million and both games will win numerous game of the year awards one week before they are set to launch calling them “The defining moments of this generation!”

I personally think the numbers & current trends are more relevant to which title will sell better, and whether a person has actually played the title is pretty irrelevant & is actually the factor that would mean absolutely nothing unless you are trying to make a quality comparison. Another factor not mentioned in the article that could support that argument is looking at the way the games are marketed. The biggest & fastest selling Halo title was Halo 3 if I’m not mistaken, a game which was marketed w/ the line “Finish the Fight”, it was well known that this game was the capper for the story and that brought people out in droves to get in on the franchise before it finished. UC4 is called “A Thief’s End” & ND have alluded on more than one occasion that this will be (at least ND’s) last entry in the series. Of course it could go either way but considering the numbers on the last 2 titles in each series only illustrated a discrepancy of around 2 million copies, it’s not all that unbelievable that a game that has steadily grown in popularity & sales, developed by the original developers & marketed as the final game in the series for a console that has outsold its direct competition 2:1 will stand a pretty fair chance of beating a title that has had many more installments & has been handed off to a developer that most of its core fanbase would argue is lesser in quality a year out from a relatively big pr snafu w/ the same franchise releasing on a console w/ significantly fewer units in homes. I’m not trying to determine which title is “better” because that’s all relative, but the numbers aren’t pointing to Halo winning the sales war, that much seems pretty indisputable. Seems like many people are using the “Because it’s Batman” argument for why Halo will sell better & that’s just not very tight speculation imo.

UC3’s MP couldn’t hold a candle to UC2’s MP. I’m sorry but that is one area where ND regressed. I’m sure many who have played both will agree.

So let me get this straight. When Xbox exclusives sell it’s because the games are awesome but when PS exclusives sell it’s “due to the lack of competition”? Spin it how you want but Xbox One exclusives are not selling. Even a broken Driveclub outsold Forza Horizon and Sunset Overdrive in the same time frame. The Last of Us Remastered sold better than the Halo Collection. Think about that.

You beg the question. 343 Industries was established solely to manage the Halo brand across all realms. You know that Frank O’Connor heads that up, right? As in, ex Bungie?

Bungie, save for Halo, was a middling company at best. Oni, Myth and even Destiny are not on the “great” list. Frankly, Were Destiny released by anyone else, it wouldn’t have achieved the market success it enjoyed – no doubt due to the accolades of Halo.

Games like inFamous sold better due to lack of competition in the marketplace – but there will be other games for PS4 by the time Uncharted4 comes out. People don’t buy “exclusives”, they buy games. When those games are compelling, they generally sell well. When they are coming off a massive title win (Creator of “The Last of Us”, or in Destiny’s case, Creator of “Halo”) they may well sell like gangbusters. To say that TLoU + Uncharted series > Halo franchise though? Puh-leeze.

Reviews will definitely sway the sales of either, but with Halo 5, this is new territory. Who knows how the market will react as Master Chief takes a back seat?

TL;DR? There is a chance that UC4 will outsell H5. It isn’t for any of the reasons listed in the article, and if this isn’t simply click-bait, I’m not sure what is.

I have both console and read your thoughts and think this article is silly. Yes, I will have to agree with MS fanboy above that you need to take off your Sony shades. It has never happened and its not going to happen. I don’t have the time to go thru this article to state the flawed thinking but I will just state a few in which I expect you to disagree.

Halo 4 (360) = 9.38m done by the so called lack of taking care of the baby (lol)

UC4 (PS3) = 6.65m done by the same people

#2.Your point that 343 isn’t a good as ND but its stupid because its about the game. Halo has people who buy it just for the MP. UC is bought for the story not the MP. Despite your praise of Bungie, they had been doing a terrible job with the Halo story. Halo 4 did a better job on the SP. BTW how come you did not mention the Halo 5 MP beta that many are enjoying.

The fact is simple. If ND puts out its best UC game and 343 puts out its best Halo game, the Halo game will sell more and move more consoles. Your whole article is based on the userbase of the PS4 being higher and that 343 botch Halo 4. Yes, any botched game will suffer in sales compared to any big game that is not. What kind of analysis is that? That is like the biggest no-brainer.

The truth is that MS can’t afford to get Halo 5 wrong since the XB1 console life is dependent on it. That’s not the case with UC and the PS4. I always like the guy who is in a desperate position to come out swinging harder. Got both consoles so its a win win for me.

I loved Uncharted 3 and Halo 4 did not interest me at all so it is NOT a “FACT” that Halo is the better game. It is only your opinion which is clouded by your obssessive and fanboyish love for MS.

Xbox One games do not sell so don’tbe surprised when Uncharted 4 outsells Halo 5 which I’m sure it will. You guys talk about exclusives but you don’t buy them.

The Uncharted games were and always will be of a higher standard than Halo and you can fantasize about Quantum Break all you want……….reality is Sony has the 1st parties and no amount of money can save MS this gen. MS depend on their stockpile of green but Sony have used experience, planning and almost flawless execution to reveal MS for what they are. Good luck defending MS this generation….they really need it, apparently!

I disagree with Halo 4 being better than Uncharted 3. Halo 4 introduced new mechanics for the Halo series that hurt the franchise identity and the ending was lackluster. Uncharted 3 improved the multiplayer from the second game and the campaign was just as good as the second Uncharted.

Please tell me on what podcast I said Uncharted was going to be game of the year. I never said that. Also, did you read the editorial? I break it all down using facts. You just don’t want to accept that there is a good possibility of this happening. I didn’t think it could happen either but the more I thought about it, the more I see that it could. You have to stop letting your love of Microsoft cloud your judgement.
