These are The Koalition’s picks for games of the year. These categories are composed of games we have played. The majority of the staff was involved in voting on these choices.

True, but these are the handheld games I’d be an advocate for. The Koalition folks that made the list didn’t play them so it’s a mute point.

Most of those games were also on console.

The title is a bit confusing “The Koalition’s 2015 Game of the Year Nominees” becsuse it doesn’t suggest games you all have played. It just says Games of the Year which suggest all games released which clearly isn’t the case.

Nope every game they release still have the same issues. Save data bugs, framerate issues, games freezing, missing up button prompts, etc. Just look online and you will see these issues are still prevalent on just about every platform their titles release on. Now I’m not saying their games themselves aren’t great as I haven’t played any of their games this year and they must be fun if tons of gamers are buying them but I am calling them out as a studio, which is why I’m not questioning their games getting nominated in categories but only them as a studio. Crystal Dyamincs, FromSoftware, Psyonix, etc are just a few examples of other devs that not only made great games but also put in more effort into releasing on overall quality product.

I never played Fall Out 4 I have no problem with the game itself being nominated but I certainly wouldn’t nominate that studio for best studio considering they are known for bugs. However I did here FO4 bugs have dramatically improved compared to the launch of FO3 and Skyrim.

Would you take Fallout off the GOTY list also?

Witcher 3 is a massive game! It took me months to finish it with all the side missions and contracts. I don’t blame anyone for not finishing it right away. It’s just a very long game. Some of the side content is more enjoyable than what most full games offer honestly.

Just curiousity, not necessity. I’m not trying to say “Oh this is why this got picked.” We will get to hear that on the podcast, which I look forward to. You guys just have a bunch of staff and then also a bunch of guests/personalities on the koalition so it’s interesting to see who had a say. Some of the writers we see we don’t hear from on the podcasts so it’s interesting to see their likes/dislikes too. Pretty sure everybody who listens to coop and throw down know Gary’s, Richards, Charles, JJs, Anthony’s, yours, and Brian’s thoughts. But we hear less from Stephanie, David, Dana, Matt etc. So again, just curiosity, and that’s pretty much it.

Again, why is that necessary?

I played all of Game of Thrones this year and a lot of those issues from the past are no longer there. The studio still produces quality work and they definitely deserve a nomination for all the great stuff they put out this year.

Of course Rocket League was mentioned, along with a bunch of other titles. Remember that the nominees are made up of the games we voted for as a group. Whatever got the most votes made it to the list. We’re not going to put a game that only one person picked. That’s not how this works.
