Unfortunatly situations like yours are seen and felt by the likes of us way to often,
I was born and raised on a very small island with the pop of 3500 people total and while i was growing up, videogames were just begining, but they were alredy being badmouthed for being has grownups would call them ” a waste of time”, and while a kid playing was fine, but when i joined highschool, it became something i often had to hide from people, they would not understand how a kid on his 15s would go around enjoying playing pokemon on his gameboy color, or why i would go home after school and prefer to dwell in my jrpgs like final fantasy or dragon quest, they didnt understand my passion for video games at all, at the cost of it, i started to consider people around me dull and boring, i started to cut of people from my world if they didnt share my tastes, i didnt enjoy going out on weekends or nights, and it was honestly like this for many years, until someone made me open my eyes and realize that maybe i was being to demanding of my environment, that maybe i was the one not trying hard enough, so i started trying out what other people considered fun, i started to open to people, and i realized, that i really was wrong, that there was no reason why my world, couldnt coexist with other people worlds, and it did, things only improved from there on, i got a career, a girlfriend, and on my free times i go back to being a gamer, and doing what i have enjoyed the most since i was born 😀
