I have been a PS fan since the PS1. Quite honestly there is NO REASON why the PS4 can’t offer basic software emulation for PS1. They should be able to handle PS2 as well. PS3 is a different beast entirely and replicating the Cell in the AMD APU won’t be easy and likely won’t work for all games. It takes quite a bit of horsepower to emulate.

The fact is though Sony likely doesn’t want to support features that don’t support revenue streams. Given they are restructuring the company these kind of features are luxuries. My response — offer a free emulation package without support or community support. Offer a premium emulation package for those who want support. That is assuming that there are enough PS gamers interested in backwards compatibility, I am suspecting the reason Sony cut BC from PS3 is because they figured out what MS figured out when they made the X360. Backwards compatibility is a nice feature to have, but its not likely a feature that gets used in abundance, especially as the generation wears on and next gen titles sideline the last gen ones.

If Sony sticks with the AMD APU (x86 architecture) there is ZERO reason or cost associated with backwards compatibility from this point forward. It is baked into the platform now.

Heads and shoulders better than FIOS and Comcast forcing you to have a phone that only marketing people call. I think everyone I know that has a cable / phone bundle doesn’t even know their phone number LOL.

Isn’t an action mulitplayer game coming out in the RE universe? It can’t be any worse than the Operation Raccoon City game that came out from Slant Six a few years back. That game was so bad they had a button that would make your character just fall flat on his face.

Now that’s a great idea as I didn’t even think about vue. Yeah definitely something they should consider doing.

One other major bombshell that I’m expecting Sony to announce is a new
subscription model that combines PlayStation Now with PlayStation Plus
to allow players to access PS3 games on their PS4 consoles.

I wouldn’t discount that Sony may bundle all services. PS+, PS Now and PS Vue. Finally an entertainment bundle that may be worth having!

Digital PSOne classics are currently cross-buy on EVERY Playstation system capable of connecting to PSN (that’s PSP, Vita, and PS3) EXCEPT for the newest most powerful of them all PS4.
