This is true. Definitely has to happen much later in the game but this story is also much darker so I’m not sure if they will take that approach lol

This is a very good point and you’re right. They definitely introduced Tommy and the settlement for a reason so I’m very curious to see which direction they take from there.

Remember, Druckman said this is a story about them both, killing one character would possibly end that story too early. Plus, 5 years have passed so they could’ve settled down in the camp, she could’ve looked at Tommy as another father figure and Maria as her mother as well. She could’ve had friends and maybe the fireflies killed all of them in attempt to get to Joel and Ellie.
