I hate to say it but this doesn't bode well for the next Dragon Age game at all. If you recall, Mass Effect Andromeda had several key departures during development and as a result of that we all got a disappointing game earlier this year. Hopefully I'm wrong but if I was a fan of this series then I would definitely be rocked too by this news.

In reply to <a href="https://thekoalition.com/2017/dragon-age-creative-director-mike-laidlaw-leaves-bioware#comment-174369">Trevor Alexandre</a>.

Don't apologize, this is a great comment Trevor. I agree that I don't want to see Bioware continuing these series' that people love, simply because they see it as money on the table. I want them to create these games with passion and enthusiasm. Unfortunately it seems like the talent who genuinely cared for these games are leaving the company one after another.

I find myself torn on these departures from BioWare. As excited as I am for future releases I see more and more of the designers who made BioWare what it is walking away.

I feel like both Mass Effect and Dragon Age were sacrifices on the Altar of Expectations to shake up an increasingly rigid fanbase. The lingering miasma surrounding DA2/DAI and the transference of any complaint about the ME trilogy (which now enjoys the very rosiest of nostalgia goggles) to the troubled Andromeda points to a company that desperately wants to tell new stories while handcuffed to successful IPs.

I hope that Anthem is just the tip of the iceberg, and that as much as I want to return to Thedas, the Citadel, Korriban, and the Golden Delta- I'd prefer to see worlds that the surviving teams at BioWare are legitimately excited for.

Apologies for the jumble of thoughts, it's late.
