the problem with your netflix scenario is that with Netflix, they have SUCH a huge majority of market share where as Xbox dont.. and the truth is for a LOT of Netlfix originals their shows are garbage anywyas but they cover those genres anyways so that they can please these audiences anyways... Xbox doesn't have the luxury of being the dominant leaders in the market to be given leeway... Sea of thieves is a shallow experience and i called it LAST YEAR! and have kept the same energy since... in terms of Sea of thieves... it does look like a shallow experience too.. although the base maintenance gameplay looks quite robust but the overall game looks soooooo shallow... im not trolling... and im alwas here if you wanna have a discussion...?

Hey there. Thanks for the read. I'd argue that State of Decay 2 is probably the best that Microsoft has to offer so far, which is a good thing. My point wasn't that State of Decay 2 will be shallow and terrible, it's that we shouldn't be surprised if it does. I hope that I'm wrong and that the game is fantastic, but going off of Microsoft's recent track record and the fact that it's launching at $30, I have every right to be skeptical.

At the end of the day, it's another 4-player zombie game. It's nothing we haven't seen before, and I'm sure it's a fun romp with friends. It's exactly what they need to sell Game Pass, and it will probably bring a lot of people to the service. However, it's nothing like the game-of-the-year experiences we've been seeing on PS4 time and time again. That's fine. I'm not saying Xbox needs to go that route, I'm merely observing the route they ARE going down, which seems to be quantity over quality.

I don't understand what you're arguing about Netflix? I agree that Microsoft needs to diversify their content and I even said they are doing so?

This isn't a knee jerk reaction either. I have been playing Sea of Thieves since the alpha in 2016. I've had these worries for months and they were only confirmed once the game released. My entire piece is a culmination of Microsoft's past year or so. Sea of Thieves was the final piece needed to bring all of my thoughts together.

I think you're wrong, somewhat. From the little we've seen from State of Decay 2, it is clear that game isn't shallow and has a lot to offer, so clearly this shallowness couldn't represent Microsoft's future plans for Game Pass. Furthermore, a service such as Game Pass will need to cater to every body, therefore, you will see all sorts of games.

Does Netflix only cater to some audiences with its original shows? No! Netflix Originals include thrillers, action, comedies, romance, etc. It would have never grown if the company did not diversify its content. So, for you to write this article without looking at the bigger picture show you didn't think this through. This is a knee jerk reaction to Sea of Thieves, which in truth, is a pretty mediocre game.
