Basically, Microsoft in a desperate attempt to make it seem like people still care about xbox1, which is dying, is buying all those gta5 copies. All the sony sales are from people who have abandoned xbox and have to rebuy the game.

Probably a lot of 360/PS3 owners finally moving to currentgen and picking the game up again because their old version isn't backward compatible plus the game does feature quite a lot of upgrades compared to its last gen counterpart like 1st person mode. I myself bought the PS4 version despite already owning the PS3 sku and I have a lot of friends that did the same.

As far as GTA still selling there is a batch of new 18 year olds every day.
