The Order and Star Fox are two different situations though. People complained about The Order's length, which is a stupid argument. A game that has broken controls? That's something that no one should excuse.

This sums up the GitS/ScarJo issue for me.
Jon Tsuei argues in a series of tweets that, when it comes to Ghost in the Shell, the issue is a matter of ownership.

I've been seeing a lot of defenses for the ScarJo casting that seem to lack a nuanced understanding of a Ghost In The Shell as a story. The manga came out in 1989, the first film 1995. An era whenJapan was considered the world leader in technology. Everything hot in that era came out of Japan. Cars, video games, walkmans, all of that. Japan was setting a standard. This is a country that went from poised to conquer to the Pacific to forcibly disarmed. They poured their resources into their economy. And as a country that was unable to defend themselves, but was a world leader in tech, it created a relationship to tech that is unique.
---> Ghost In The Shell plays off all of these themes. It is inherently a Japanese story, not a universal one.

The narrative challenges commonplace notions about what might make a human being identifiable as a person. However, the setting never varies. The Major is Japanese. Even though the cityscapes she explores are futuristic and multicultural, they have their foundations in Japan. And the relationship the series has to technology is Japanese. (And never forget that anime characters are typically identified as Japanese.) ---> Casting a Caucasian woman as the Major (whose given name is actually Motoko Kusanagi) ignores those facts.

Why can’t a Ghost in the Shell from the States tackle the same quandaries from an American perspective? Tsuei would argue that a movie like that would no longer be Ghost in the Shell.

Dont understand why people care about Scarlet Johansson playing this anime character, i looked at pictures, and the character does not look Japanese like most Japanese anime characters. People crying about this better never watch Attack on titan, an anime about only 1 Asian character (the manga says mikasa is the last asain ethnic person) where they went and cast all Asians. I am gonna die laughing tho if they try to make her look asian.

If they were gona cast a Japanese lead, id vote Rinko Kikuchi, dont know if she has the english tho for a lead.

Great show, and props to Chris for always being reasonable with your Nintendo criticism. Nintendo fanboys are a product of their supplier/dealer: they can't handle any type of criticism without having an extreme reaction. And I'm a firm believer that Nintendo's actions and ideologies, if uncorrected, will be their own undoing.

I think the Neo is coming out to buy Sony a couple extra years of this gen. It's obliviously cheaper to overclock & upgrade the components already in the system than to develop a new system. So I don't think we'll be seeing a PS5 until at least 2020.

The 360 was a cool system. I'm happy it innovated the way it did, because it made last gen better overall. I had 2 360's and it wasn't because one RROD either. I had a 20g one then bought an elite one later on. I mainly got it for Gears of War, but the early JRPG's is what kept me there, well those and Mass Effect 1.

I had worries about the Star Fox game from the time it was announced and they showed you have to aim using the gamepad. So I didn't buy it for that reason. With that said, you can't get on the heads of people talking shit about The Order without playing it and then start saying how bad Star Fox is when none of you played the game. "Star Fox on Wii U is a horrendous mess of a game".
