1)
Now that all these spec sheets are available across the net detailing current gaming consoles & upcoming other gaming platforms, can we all agree that consoles still can't measure up to a modern day gaming pc.
When it comes down to it, it remains generally all about the games and that devs/companies fully deliver? Any objections/disagreements explain in detail. P.S. I'm all for Scorpio & Switch U once a worthy lineup of software hits.

2)
What's your take on digital vs physical software sales currently & do you believe digitial retail/streaming service disturbition will be the go to for future interactive/gaming/entertainment software, just based on which is the best alternative for consumer demand and should there be discounts?

3)
What is your initial top seven game of the year contenders currently, what title would you nominate in highest reguard as a recommended must purchase?

Hey guys. I'm always catching the show whether live or streaming it later. Been keeping up with the debate about the Switch and been wanting to throw my 2 cents in there. So, here are a few thoughts on the Switch debate between Brett and Chris...

Let me frame this from personal experience. I was intrigued at the idea of the Switch. I briefly considered buying it. As the game releases were slowly unveiled, I opted not to. Though it is a little overpriced, that wouldn't stop me from buying it if it met my needs. And if the Switch's value is in its portability (which gives it a
function that the other consoles do not provide) then does a portable
console fit into my lifestyle? And the first question that comes to mind for me is, "What are my needs?"

As a married adult with a full time job, plenty of disposable income, and no kids...I've got more money to buy games than I have time play them. And with the recent onslaught of game releases, I'm jammed up with Mass Effect and Zelda on backlog. I'm looking to pick up Horizon, Nioh and Nier when they start dropping in price later this year, and maybe even waiting until some of them are re-released as complete or GOTY editions with all DLC included. And that's not even counting the games yet to be released this year. As you guys have said on the podcast, it's crazy right now.

What does this have to do with the Switch? Firstly, income is important to note because while price and value matter to most
consumers, function and experience matter more when money is less of an
issue. Secondly, the question becomes..."When the fuck am I supposed to play all this stuff?"

My commute to work is a 15 minute drive. At work, I'm usually working and when I'm not I have a back catalog of Steam games on my underpowered work computer (great for small indies or older games). If I'm not at work, I'm at home staring a huge PS4 (and even PS3) backlog in the face. At what point would it make sense for me to play a Switch? The answer *FOR ME* is that it doesn't make any sense.

But that's not to say that I don't see the value in the Switch. You guys have often debated whether or not it's a console or a portable. The obvious answer is that it's both. And while that may put it in competition with PS4 and Xbox in most people's eyes, for me it doesn't. Because if I bought it, it would be solely for the purpose of taking a Triple A game experience with me everywhere I go and also being able to enjoy it in the sanctity of my home. I could theoretically start an epic journey after a meeting at work and continue it after dinner without missing a beat. The PS4 can't do this. It can't come with me to the store, to visit relatives and in-laws, or on a training retreat at work. This duality makes the Switch its own special thing, and I would not consider its underwhelming console qualities a dealbreaker when thinking about whether or not to buy one. I've got an unbelievable home console with a ridiculous library. I wouldn't need the Switch to fill that need.

Now, if I've got a limited budget and one choice of what to buy for my gaming needs, then it's a COMPLETELY different conversation. I couldn't take a risk paying $360+ for Zelda on a Switch and *maybe* 1 game per month after that. It just doesn't make sense. I'd be bored out of my mind unless I played Zelda for 3 months. And while it may be a complete and detailed enough game to keep some busy for that long, I'm not nearly as big a fan of the tedium of survival games (Zelda) as I am of expansive story and lore (Witcher 3).

All that being said, the Switch is cool. The Switch has value. The price point when you add in all the bells & whistles to complete the experience wouldn't detract from my interest as an early adopter. Early adoption of any tech usually comes with the same risks and challenges associated with the Switch right now. I just don't spend enough time away from home for a portable console to make sense for me.

I love the show, love the debate, love the passion. Keep it going guys.

P.S. When am I gonna be back on, Tony!?

what's up tony and others , great debate between chris and brett last week it was really entertaining , hope that bretts internet doesn't fuck up this week . i'm with chris on this one sorry brett but #teamchris .
questions :

1)so superdata confirmed that switch sold 2.4 million units first month . so i think that means nintendo actually shipped 2.5 million units . what r ur thoughts on that? i also wanna add for chris that it seems like europe seen really big drop after 1st week so maybe nintendo undershipped switch in europe but that is just my opinion .
https://www.google.co.in/amp/s/www.gamespot.com/amp-articles/nintendo-switch-sales-hit-24m-worldwide-in-first-m/1100-6449367/

2)So star wars battlefront 2 confirmed to have a famale protagonist . as expect an outrage been seen from minority of male gamers because of this . i don't understand how they can't relate playing with female protagonist but they can relate playing with bandicoots(crash bandicoot) , alien and monters and non face characters like master chief . what r ur thoughts on this?

3)Do we even need mid gen upgrades like ps4pro and xbox scorpio? was this once in a lifetime type of thing or we will see more mid gen upgrades in coming generations?

#TeamChris.. Sorry Brett :^)

Question#1
Does the Switch success prove the Scorpio is going to be a failure?

No doubt the Switch was carried by a killer-app in Zelda. The PS4 Slim is reportedly outselling the Pro so not a lot of people really care about 4K it seems..

The Xbox One has been in sleep mode since the beginning of 2017. How is the Scorpio supposed to sell with no killer-app? Its power is irrelevant since a console with POS hardware like the Switch is selling very well at the moment.

True 4K is nice and all but ultimately meaningless if you have no games or marketing deals to drive sales.

Question#2
Popular and praised characters you dislike?

So, what game characters that are either popular or well praised that you can't seem to like?

For me, it's Kreia from Star Wars: KOTOR II.

Question#3
At what point does keeping old consoles and games become a pointless exercise in nostalgia?

I imagine many of you fine duders, like myself, have an affinity for the games of old. Whether it be the early generation of polygonal 3D games, the 16-bit era, or the earliest games we all have some classics near and dear to our hearts. With all the re-releases, remasters, and emulators available today it may be easier than ever to enjoy these games. Despite these conveniences, I still cling to a few of my old consoles. I still have my SNES, Genesis, N64, and dozens of games for each platform. However, I've found myself playing these games less and less over the years. I'm starting to think that I'm keeping these consoles just to have as a reminder of the great memories they've provided me. I find this nostalgia particularly odd since I had no desire to keep my VHS or DVD players or any of the tapes and discs. At what point do we as gamers need to let go of these pieces of hardware and software and accept that they largely just collect dust and look neat on an entertainment center?

This duality makes the Switch its own special thing, and I would not consider its underwhelming console qualities a dealbreaker when thinking about whether or not to buy one. I’ve got an unbelievable home console with a ridiculous library. I wouldn’t need the Switch to fill that need.

Now, if I’ve got a limited budget and one choice of what to buy for my gaming needs, then it’s a COMPLETELY different conversation. I couldn’t take a risk paying $360+ for Zelda on a Switch and *maybe* 1 game per month after that. It just doesn’t make sense. I’d be bored out of my mind unless I played Zelda for 3 months. And while it may be a complete and detailed enough game to keep some busy for that long, I’m not nearly as big a fan of the tedium of survival games (Zelda) as I am of expansive story and lore (Witcher 3).

All that being said, the Switch is cool. The Switch has value. The price point when you add in all the bells & whistles to complete the experience wouldn’t detract from my interest as an early adopter. Early adoption of any tech usually comes with the same risks and challenges associated with the Switch right now. I just don’t spend enough time away from home for a portable console to make sense for me.

I love the show, love the debate, love the passion. Keep it going guys.

P.S. When am I gonna be back on, Tony!?

The Nintendo debate was great. I think Brett's love for Zelda though is clouding his judgment for the Switch though. I'm not saying Nintendo is going to fail in the next two years, but he's only looking at it one way, with the portability being a plus. His justification of the price also doesn't make sense because of this. For those of us like me and Tony who want a Nintendo console and not a portable have to pay $300 for a system that is less powerful than older systems because it's portable and has motion controls even though it does nothing for us. We also need to pay $70 for an additional normal and extra money on an SD Card, which isn't that expensive, but it adds up. At that point, the price is almost equivalent to a PS4 Pro. Find a way to accommodate people who aren't portable gamers and don't want to pay a premium for a console/portable if they aren't going to use most of the features. Hell, give me a SKU that doesn't have the screen, no joycons and has a pro controller and a hard drive.

Chris Vs Brett had me rolling , THROWDOWN!!! Thanks Nintendo lol
1. Do you think the Scorpio will still support VR or they're like F that ?
2. Otanime question M.F. , what anime are you watching now and what do you think of it so far ?
3. If the Switch haven't released yet and Zelda only release on the Wii U do you think it would still have gotten some of these praises or its Metacritic score would be in the 80s?
