Question#1
Are we, as gamers, limiting our ability to enjoy or engage in a good experiences?

I believe there are some games that take a certain open-mindedness to fully immerse and engage with the experience. When you walk in closed off, looking specifically for flaws or points of expectation, you miss other small details or don't soak in each step of the experience and reflect on what is meant to be conveyed.

I have done this in the past and have ruined some games for myself. For example, I ruined The Surge for myself by comparing it too much to Dark Souls. Expecting the combat and environmental storytelling to be closer to a 1:1 comparison. I was missing key points to the flow of combat and other mechanics of the game. Eventually this caused me to put the game down and never come back to it. Granted, it's not the best game, but I think I made it worse than it was for myself.

Question#2
What's with all of the Shenmue hate all of a sudden?

After the teaser trailer (which should've been titled "in-development trailer") released and showed the incomplete facial animations and the wooden characters, everyone is now doom and gloom, saying that yet another Kickstarter game was ruined like Mighty No. 9 and the switching of developers for Unsung Story. Yu Suzuki has a great legacy with all of the amazing games he worked on (of course, he had a larger team and had the support from SEGA), and he would never act as a hack or fraud and screw fans out of a great title.

I'm one of the few who wouldn't care if Shenmue III had Dreamcast or PS2 visuals; we want the story finished. I just think people love to hate (not be critical, but genuinely hate) on things these days and Yu Suzuki even stated they're working on the facial animations and such. The only thing so far that I don't really care for is the new logo, but it won't cause me to jump on the hate bandwagon. I think the haters need to drink a Jet Cola and just wait a bit longer on a more polished looking game because the game is still far out from release.

That was one no name site that said it was a genius move. Their reasoning was also that the holidays are swamped with 3rd party games so Sony grabbing deals with them makes sense to fill the gap. Do I agree that it was a genius move? No, but one no name site doesn't equate to media bias.

The only thing Sony straight up got a pass on was Cerny saying get used to 1080p/60. And at least part of the reason they got a pass was because they were still more powerful than the X1.

Why is MS being treated differently than Sony regarding delays?

In 2015 Sony admitted they had a sparse lineup - Truth.
In 2017 Microsoft claimed they were hitting people with exclusive after exclusive (Aaron Greenberg 2017) - False
In 2016, Sony says they know they have been announcing release dates too soon and are going to fix it - Honesty - https://gamerant.com/sony-release-date-123/
In 2016, Microsoft claims Crackdown 3 is being delayed out of 2016 because there are too many other games. - Dishonesty, it wasn't close to ready. - https://www.gamespot.com/articles/microsoft-says-it-didnt-need-crackdown-3-this-year/1100-6441834/

MS isn't straight up with people, and people don't know what's going on, so they question. Sony for the most part is honest about their failures, with Jim Ryan saying some stupid shit being the exception.

Has MS put out more AAA exclusives? I guess that depends on what you consider AAA. But, and this is completely subjective, MS last gen put out must have titles. This gen, every franchise has taken a step back except Forza and Halo. And even Halo's SP some didn't like, and MCC didn't work out well. Remember when Gears was new? E3 show stopper every time it was on. Same with Halo. Either those brands don't have the same effect anymore or the games they are making now don't. MS also had franchises like Mass Effect and Splinter Cell exclusive last gen, but nothing near that level from 3rd parties anymore. This is why they are criticized.

This Generation it seem TO ME Sony has been given a pass, we saw articles of Sony in 2015 admitting to having a sparse first party lineup, and the gaming media said it was a genius move, we say for the first two years of this generation Sony has delayed games and no MAJOR outcry for the gaming media or community and for every year since the launch of this Gen in Nov 2013 MS has put out more triple A CONSOLE exclusives except this year.
Questions:
1. Do you think Sony has been given a pass this gen?
2. Sony has shown what their plan has been since the start of this Gen, do you think the gaming community including the Media is more critical of MS because they don't know what Phill's Plan is for the xbox brand, since he took over?
3. How influential do you think Social Media is on the (so called) Console wars?
(the last one might have been asked before)
