Getting paid to endorse FIFA 14 isn’t wrong, and you’re hardly the only one. But calling this a “review” is just bollocks. The first half of the first sentence is missing, by the way.

I love FIFA and i buy it every year so I have a right to share my honest opinion and I’m not trolling.

The game is slow and sloppy, no where near realistic as some people state. If you think its realistic for a professional football player worth £40mil to run like he has sandbags on his feet then sorry my friend you need you’re eyes tested. Its obvious they have taken the speed away from the game play and added this slower technical approach to attacking. In my opinion this approach is suppose to bring in the “skill” movements to get around players, people who just rape their joypads and busting out skill after skill and you can’t touch them. I for one never use skill movements, my approach of gaining ground on the other side of the pitch is passing, I pass like the Spanish national team.
That brings me onto the next subject, PASSING.
In my opinion i think they have taken away everything in a passing sense, threw balls has been ruin (it’s just an instant pass to the other team button), also when you’re passing in round the ball will randomly go straight past the receiving player and the player just stands there (even though you’re tugging away at youre controller telling that player to move but he doesn’t). When the ball does pass its with such weak power it just goes no where. Only chance you have of getting the ball anywhere is lob threw ball all the time.

Shooting feels powerless. Only way to score is by a header.

Mr. Kennedy pointed out some good things like the commentary which has indeed approved but I think its annoying. How much talking is there in this game? Almost zero! I find the commentary to repeat themselves over and over again, talking about the same thing in 3 different times in the frame match!

Menus are laggy. I haven’t even tried playing an online match yet but I’ve read its terrible with lag so i dont think I’ll be trying anytime soon!

There’s so many wrongs with this game and I’d love to state them all but my ipad for some reason not letting me type properly and its annoying.
This game will take a lot of getting use to but I don’t think I can be bothered, you have to change the way you play with every new fifa that comes out.

Very true! gunna agree with you and Kennedy here. EA are lazy and the ULTIMATE corporate money whore machine. They know millions of football fans will buy fifa 14 whether its because their friends left them behind on an old copy (noone wants to play alone) or even if it’s just because its the ‘new’ fifa. Initially i found fifa very refreshing considering the past 4 fifa’s simply required your players to have pace, regardless of their overall rating, and you could be smashing goals in left right and centre. The demo seemed more realistic and i appreciated that EA were trying to model their game on real life movements, situations and play styles in the modern game. Then i bought the game and i F*cking hated it. I’ve played about 20 games now and it infuriates me how slow and limited the game play is. Okay yes the opposition can’t just whore Darren Bent’s pace any more and guarantee themselves a win, but the players move as if they are on the moon slight exaggeration) or as if there is glue on the pitch (far more realistic metaphor). The movement is more realistic ill give you that, EA but professional players should be able to have far more subtle first touches and dribbling than what is portrayed in Fifa 14. I was watching West Brom Vs UTD the other day and Sessegnon made the most beautifully ridiculous turn on the ball. It goes to show that fast movement is possible in real life and Fifa has eliminated this. If you want to turn with the ball you have to do a three point turn for fuck sake. Really not enjoying this game – Fifa have gone from one extreme to the other. Its a lazy game with the same old poor glitches, players humping each other, shit crowd noise, poor reefing and LAG. FUCKING LAG EVERYWHERE. Id honestly rather they spent 2 years on fifa and got it right the money grabbing bastards.

Other shitty things like lag and unplayable games due to poor matchmaking is still there. I’d say every third game I play is ruined by lag.

I’m an above average Fifa player and won 850 and lost about 300 online games in last years Ultimate team.

Your point leads into my speculation/point about the next-gen version.

Maybe the next-gen version will be more developed for EA to finally find this balance.

Usually I’m very high on FIFA games when they are initially released, however this year’s version just didn’t connect with me at all from the off!

As you say: ‘It is refreshing’ to see someone who “gets it” in terms of this review.

If our website got so desperate for hits that we had to write up BS reviews to fish for hits, then we might as well call it a day.

Like you, I’m a hardcore footie fan and the potential is there for a solid enough football game. Every year feels like EA is slipping further behind. Going by some accusations made towards myself, you’d think I wanted FIFA to fail in some sick masochistic way….or I’m a PES fanboy…..even though I’m level 49 on FIFA online!

It seems like the people who label this a “troll review” seems like they want reviews to favour the game in question just because they already like it.

I thought the point of a review was to read someone’s opinion (for what it’s worth) and use that to judge whether or not you should buy the product or not.

This wasn’t a favourable review that was paid for. To label a review as a “troll review” just because it doesn’t suit your preference is just plain ignorant jack!

Read it again and you might find that I did. I praised their attempt at trying to change the counter-attacking style and I also praised the skill games and commentary. Oh….and I praised EA for adding some South American leagues.

This game is not worth the full price especially when the more focused title will be released in 2 months time.

If I was writing a troll review I’d write “This game is shit lolz, Pro Evo iz da best!”.
