6 year life cycles with mid gen optional upgrades at year 3 doesn’t sound that bad actually.

Ill just be less likely to hold on to the previous consoles now. As long as I can reasonably access my past catalog, Ill be fine.

When I use to game on PC I upgraded some component of my gaming rig every year/every other year. So I see consoles creaping ever closer to being a closed system PCs on that cycle.
