The simple answer is because it SHOULD be better. Something that's marketed as the "big award show" should and deserves to be an accurate, respectful and entertaining homage to the year of gaming. Instead, it makes the entire industry look like a joke.

I'd be lying if I said I *truly* expected it to be any different, but 1) I had hope and 2) We (meaning people in the gaming press) are kind of in a position to provide critique on the industry, thus our interest in recording this podcast and watching the show.

Meh, there's plenty of other good awards shows/sites that declare a GOTY, etc. so what's the big deal what Spike decide to with their own one? What's so special about theirs and why does the VGA/VGX even deserve all the unwarranted prestige that surrounds it anyway?

People are writing long articles, doing podcasts about it, every single fucking year, expecting something different from it, but never learn and for some reason are left hugely disappointed, only because they put so much into importance into it in the first place... Seriously people, it's not a big deal.

this was the worst VGA/VGX so far:

obviously bought/arranged winnners,.. no real big hyped world exclusives,.. lame show (not really show, was),.. DKC TP form Fils-Aime, but not real hint about anything else,.. badly placed "winner announcements",.. an unmotivated host,.. zero humor,.. boring indie game interviews/worldrpemiers (if they had at least a few real big names between) ect. ect. ect.

only a 2 or 3 trailers for game we already know and Geoff Keighley trying to get some infos from Fils-Aime, were best parts of the whole 3h show.. the rest was really a disgrace,.. never again going to watch the (fake/farce) VGX again...

(maybe not every year, have the GOTY winners been bought, but evey year it's becoming clearer, that the most of it is bought and faked..)

VGX didn't take this chance to reboot and reedem it-selfs, but just lost all credibitly... (.. and doubt there will be any host, who'll want to do this anymore, unless they're totally desperate..)

my only hope, is that Nintendo & Ubisoft, see the "Zombie/Surivival" game wave comming, that was hinted (again) at the VGX, and they rethink about making ZombiU2 (which still felt more intens than any of the shown zombie games shown..)

That was... an utter disgrace. I've been using computers and gaming since I was less than a year old. My Commodore 64 taught me to read. In the nearly 30 years I've been on this planet, I've never been this embarrassed to be a gamer.

They should just turn it all over to people that know what they're doing, or just release the trailers and that's it. People do not care about all this other crap!

Show was so shit. I watched the last couple of years and it was more or less ENTERTAINING to say the least. This year was literally like watching two guys doing interviews who sounded the least exciting and very dull. I hope they're done with this crap.
