SEGA announced Special Stages will be a feature in the upcoming game, Sonic Mania. The announcement was made during the fully packed Sonic Mania: Behind the Scenes panel at San Diego Comic-Con which featured new insight from Takashi Iizuka (head of Sonic Team), Christian Whitehead (developer for Sonic Mania), Simon Thomley (programmer for Sonic Mania), Tom Fry (artist for Sonic Mania), and Tee Lopes (composer for Sonic Mania). Moderated by Aaron Webber (social media manager for Sonic), the panelists discussed the road to development behind Sonic Mania, all building up to the release date of August 15.
In addition to the announcement of Special Stages in the game, other highlights from the panel include background on the origins of Sonic Mania, fun stories about the development process, the art behind the game, and additional details of the Sonic Mania vinyl.

Sonic Mania Standard Edition or the Limited-Edition Collector’s Edition will be available August 15th for PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PC.
