It’s safe to say that the Amiibo craze has already gotten out of hand. The figurines seem to sell out instantaneously, and many are reselling them at insane prices.
As if that wasn’t bad enough, a story that has now been removed from Nintendo Nuggets reports that a fan has pre-purchased over 100, and has a reported $35,000 left to invest on the upcoming Rosalina & Luma Amiibo… simply because he doesn’t like her.
In an interview with the man who goes by both “Daily Dose” and “Mariotehplumber”, he states: “I do not appreciate Rosalina appearing in almost every recent Mario game to date. The fact Nintendo promotes her so much and people praise her is just disgusting.”
It all sounds a bit ridiculous, but this is multiplied tenfold when he continues, saying: “I hate her fans, too. I know for a fact her amiibo will be among one of the most popular, which is why I took the time to wait and pre-order over 100 of her. I do not want her fans to be happy… It just crushes me Nintendo from the good days went to this shit for character designs.” According to him, he plans to divvy the money up and buy a bulk amount of Palutena, Robin, and Zero Suit Samus. Why? Because he doesn’t like them either.
Some might ask how he’s able to accrue all of these Amiibos, and according to Daily Dose, it’s due to the fact that he orders them all under addresses of friends and family. Some might also ask why he is willing to spend $35,000 on something so silly as to make other people angry, although the answer to that is probably a lot harder to answer.
At the end of the day, this really boils down to a fan with (apparent) money to burn who is angry that a company isn’t doing what he wants; the perfect recipe for dumb things to happen.
