At the close of its 25th Anniversary Sonic Party in San Diego, SEGA unveiled a cinematic for the next main-series release for the franchise – codenamed Project Sonic 2017, it’s due in the Holiday season next year and is confirmed for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo NX, as well as PC.
It’s a Sonic Team project, the same team that produced Sonic Colors and Sonic Generations. Described as “not a sequel, a brand new experience”, the short cinematic trailer has the tagline “join the resistance” and shows ‘classic’ Sonic arriving to help the modern Sonic.
No further details were given, but it’s great news to see formal confirmation that it’ll come to Nintendo’s NX hardware. Check out the trailer above and let us know what you think.
