This is NOT a drill!! It is 100% confirmed by Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds that Hugh Jackman is back as Wolverine in Deadpool 3.
Announced on Ryan Reynolds Instagram:
“Hey everyone, we’re extremely sad to have missed D23, but we’ve been working very hard on the next ‘Deadpool’ film for a good long while now,” Reynolds says in the video. “I’ve had to really search my soul on this one. His first appearance in the MCU obviously needs to feel special. We need to stay true to the character, find new depth, motivation, meaning every Deadpool needs to stand out and stand apart. It’s been an incredible challenge that has forced me to reach down deep inside.”
“Hey, Hugh, you want to play Wolverine one more time?” Reynolds asks. “Yeah, for sure,” Jackman replies.
Directed by Shawn Levy, “[Deadpool 3] will be rated R and we are working on a script right now, and Ryan’s overseeing a script right now,” Feige told Collider. “It will not be [filming] this year. Ryan is a very busy, very successful actor.
“We’ve got a number of things we’ve already announced that we now have to make, but it’s exciting for it to have begun. Again, a very different type of character in the MCU, and Ryan is a force of nature, which is just awesome to see him bring that character to life.”
Shawn Levy released a Twitter statement on Hugh Jackman returning as Wolverine: “I want to take a minute to thank ‘Stranger Things’ for training me to keep my big mouth shut. This news has been burning a hole in my lips for weeks now.”

While details about the third installment is kept under wraps, Ryan Reynolds has previously stated before Disney bought Fox, the movie was planned to be a road trip film between Deadpool and Wolverine.
Deadpool 3 will hit theaters on September 6, 2024, starring Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool and, yes, Hugh Jackman as Wolverine one last time.
This will be the first Deadpool movie by Marvel Studios. Jackman first played Wolverine in 2000’s X-Men and officially retired from the role with 2017’s Logan, in which the clawed mutant was killed off. Jackman is not the first X-Men star to come out of retirement for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. His Logan co-star Patrick Stewart appeared in a cameo in this summer’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
