My Top 5 Most Anticipated Games From Day of the Devs: The Game Awards Edition 2024

Yesterday morning, Day of the Devs revealed 19 upcoming indie games as part of their Game Awards Edition 2024 digital showcase. While every game looked uniquely interesting, 5 key titles piqued my interest. Below is a quick description of these games and why I look forward to learning more about them in 2025.

Bionic Bay
Developer: Psychoflow Studio, and Mureena Oy
Publisher: Kepler Interactive
Platforms: PlayStation 5, and PC

Bionic Bay is a mysterious action platformer with intricately designed pixel art, physics-based platforming challenges, and a central swap mechanic. The game revolves around a scientist who uses a unique teleportation instrument to escape an ancient biomechanical world filled with imaginative technology, deadly traps, and hidden secrets. As a fan of games like Limbo, Inside, and Neva, I believe Bionic Bay has that same level of potential and I look forward to checking it out when it drops on March 13th, 2025.

Faraway
Developer: Steph Thirion
Publisher: Annapurna Interactive
Platforms: PC

Faraway is a single-player game in which you control a shooting star that keeps itself alive by harvesting energy from the stars and creating constellations. The game was mentioned for its similarities to Tetris but with an equal balance of comfort and challenge. The musical soundtrack and vibrant colors are a bonus and I look forward to learning more about the game in the new year.

Sleight of Hand
Developer: RiffRaff Games
Publisher: RiffRaff Games
Platforms: Xbox Series X/S, Xbox Game Pass, and PC

Sleight of Hand is a third-person noir stealth game where you play as Lady Luck as she tries to infiltrate her old witch coven using a cursed deck of cards. More gameplay footage of this game was shown during the presentation which left me curious to learn even more about the various types of cards and how they can impact the overall gameplay experience. Although there is no confirmed release date yet, we can expect to see more from this game in 2025.

Neon Abyss 2
Developer: Veewo Games
Publisher: Kepler Interactive
Platforms: PC

Neon Abyss 2 is a colorful and chaotic roguelike run-and-gun game. As the sequel to the original game which launched in 2020, players can expect even more chaos and fun this time around. The game will hit Early Access next year and already looks like an absolute blast.

Kingmakers
Developer: Redemption Road Games
Publisher: tinyBuild
Platforms: PC

Kingmakers shows what would happen if someone took modern-day weapons and traveled back to medieval times to use them. This sandbox third-person shooter also has city-building and real-time strategy elements, making it a truly unique experience. I’m already sold on the game and can’t wait to play when it launches in Early Access in Q1 2025.

This concludes my list. Did any of the games at the showcase grab your attention? Please feel free to let me know in the comments section below.
