The Elder Scrolls Online To Release Next Year For PC And Mac

Bethesda is one of my favourite gaming studies, regardless of what transpired on the last episode of Versus. So imagine my excitement today when Game Informer finally dropped the details on The Elder Scrolls MMO.

The game will take place in Tamriel 1,000 years before Skyrim and it will focus on daedric prince Molag Bal’s attempt to take over the land. Apparently the world of Tamriel will be open from Elsweyr to Skyrim and “everywhere in between”. The game will be developed by a team from Bethesda’s parent company ZeniMax (ZeniMax Online Studios).

It all sounds awesome, but of course this also has the potential to go tits up. The game will be released for PC and Mac, and The Elder Scrolls series has had a strong PC following. Although the MMO will be a separate entity from the main games, dumbing down the world of Tamriel too much could possibly be detrimental to what The Elder Scrolls name has come to represent.

The new issue of GameInformer promises to have much more details, also look out for a teaser dropping tomorrow. We will certainly be discussing this on the next edition of our RPG podcast, Turn Based.
