MARVEL Cosmic Invasion DLC Preview – Cyclops and The Thing Join The Roster

Last December, Tribute Games and Dotemu released MARVEL Cosmic Invasion, an outstanding tag team beat ’em up featuring iconic superheroes and villains from the Marvel universe. In my review, I described this game as the best beat ’em up of 2025, and I’ve been eager to see how this beloved title would evolve.

After gaining over 1.5 million players since launch, Tribute Games announced today that two more playable fighters are joining the fray. Iconic X-Men leader Cyclops and Fantastic Four Heavy-Hitter The Thing are the first batch of DLC characters available today across all platforms for $3.99. Beyond this news, Tribute also confirmed that more playable characters and an all-new game mode are coming in Fall 2026, most likely just in time to celebrate the first anniversary.

I had a brief opportunity to check out both Cyclops and The Thing, and I can promise that fans are in for an absolute treat. First and foremost, adding Cyclops to this game was a phenomenal choice since he has been the most requested character for some time now. With the upcoming release of X-Men 97 Season 2 and Avengers Doomsday later this year, there is no better time than now to give the fans exactly what they want, and Tribute Games has delivered in every way. His optic blast attacks are highly effective and pair well with his close-quarters combat maneuvers. The Thing is essentially another popular, powerful tank character on par with She-Hulk and Beta Ray Bill. His addition makes me very curious about whether we’ll see another Fantastic Four character added to this game.

The $3.99 price point seems reasonable to me, given that the base game is $29.99. I’m also certain this game will be on sale soon, with so many new releases still expected to hit online stores and retailers later this year. Is this DLC something you need to pick up immediately? Not necessarily, but if you have been playing the game and you’re eager to check out Cyclops and the Thing now, you certainly have that option available. If you still haven’t played MARVEL Cosmic Invasion, feel free to check out my review.
