Last night, Super Smash Bros. director Masahiro Sakurai announced via Nintendo’s Miiverse that the upcoming brawler will have different trophies on both the Wii U and 3DS versions of the game. Below is a direct quote in which Sakurai emphasizes the news with a few details:
“There will be trophies in the 3DS and Wii U games, and each version will boast different types and models. The 3DS trophies will be mainly from handhelds and the Wii U version will feature trophies from the home-console games.”
Recent reports have also been suggesting that Nintendo has started adjusting the roster on the Wii U version of the game so that it can be easily accessible to 3DS users as well. Most fans would agree that making the game essentially the same on both products without any added bonuses would be disappointing and hard to digest on so many levels.
Super Smash Bros. is easily the most important game for the Wii U and thus I would say that version of the game should have some added bells and whistles to let gamers know its the most complete version to get. Nintendo still has time to fix this issue, but for now I would say that it’s most likely that they will not. Super Smash Bros. is expected to launch on both systems sometime later this year.
How do you all feel about there being different trophies in both the Wii U and 3DS versions of Super Smash Bros. Please feel free to let us know in the comments section below.
