Hideo Kojima Reportedly Leaving Konami, Forming His Own Studio

According to recent reports by Japanese website Nikkei, it seems like Hideo Kojima has finally parted ways with Konami and will be forming his own studio.

As we knew, back in March rumors started to surface that Kojima and Konami weren’t happy with each other. Konami removed pretty much any mention of Kojima’s name from Metal Gear Solid V‘s box art, and in October it was reported that the man even had a farewell party at his offices. Now, he has apparently officially left the company and is looking to form his own studio. According to the reports, he was also in talks with Sony Computer Entertainment, although the report does state that he is “starting a new company to make games for PlayStation or others.”, so who knows  what that can mean.

Clearly, this was definitely a rocky way to end any business relationship, as Kojima has no doubt had a huge in Konami’s successes. However, it will be interesting to see where he the man from here, whether it be with Sony or not, and what he can do without the Metal Gear Solid franchise in his arsenal.

We will update this story as more news becomes available.
