Remastered Halo 3: ODST is Just as Defective as Master Chief Collection

Surprise! Microsoft and 343 Industries have announced the remastered re-release of Halo 3: ODST, which was promised to buyers of the defective Halo: The Master Chief Collection, is available now on Xbox One. Codes were sent out this morning alerting Master Chief Collection owners of the game’s availability. Those who bought the collection after December 19 are now able to download it for $4.99 from the Xbox Store.

That sounds great for people who are fans of the series and were burned by the mess that was the MCC, but there’s a problem. Those who have received codes are reportedly experiencing technically difficulties installing the ODST expansion.

Gamers on Reddit and NeoGAF report downloads stopping at 99%, thus requiring them to re-download. Some are then unable to even re-download the game for the second time because it froze.

For those who can successfully download and install ODST, Bungie’s hidden Destiny Easter egg has been removed.

Microsoft and 343 Industries have made it clear that the remaster does not include any multiplayer modes, and is just the single player campaign of the original game only. They have so far not addressed these technical issues.
