Earlier today, Microsoft and Insomniac Games released the first official gameplay trailer from their upcoming Sunset Overdrive video game. The video is conveniently embedded above for you all to check out.
Sunset Overdrive has been described as an open world shooter that takes place in 2027. The video above dives into the story, factions, enemies, and weapons that can be found within the game. The overall gameplay footage looks absolutely gorgeous and the open world elements are very similar to what you would see in either a Crackdown or Prototype game. Sunset Overdrive is currently rumored to launch exclusively on the Xbox One sometime this October. Microsoft will reveal more details about this game next month during E3 2014.
After having a look at this game, I believe that Microsoft definitely deserves some recognition for trying to bring new IPs to the Xbox One. Popular franchises like Gears of War and Halo will have a place on the Xbox brand, thus leaving plenty of opportunities for new projects to thrive. While we still don’t know if Sunset Overdrive will be a classic must own title, we can at the very least agree that something new will be welcomed with open arms.
