In case you haven’t heard, the first episode of Telltale’s phenomenal Walking Dead game series is now available on the iOS App Store for $4.99/£2.99. Episode 2 (which would have received a 9/10 from us if my laptop didn’t have permission to die) will follow “shortly after” and should definitely be experienced by all in one form or another.
On their official blog, Telltale recently published the following statement;
We’ve spent a great deal of time carefully integrating our new interface design to create an even more intuitive experience with the touch screen as you explore a world ravaged by the undead based on the Eisner Award-winning comics from Robert Kirkman and Skybound Entertainment. You’ll have full character control of Lee Everett as investigation points, actions, dialogue and decision making flows onscreen and is seamlessly integrated with the environments.
If you’ve yet to experience The Walking Dead’s first episode, you’ll be in for some tough decisions while balancing some unique relationships in this morally grey world, and it will all be carried over into future episodes that uniquely tailor your play though of the story. Once you’ve purchased this episode for $4.99 USD, you can then opt to purchase future episodes individually for $4.99 from within the application, OR you can pre-purchase the rest of the series as a Multi-Pack [Episode 2-5 Bundle] for $14.99, saving you a total of 25% off the cost of buying episodes 2-5 individually.
Walking Dead: The Game is available in the iTunes App Store as a Universal app. Walking Dead: The Game’s second episode, ‘Starved for Help,’ is still receiving some special development touches, and is rapidly approaching release as well. We’ll be updating you right here on our site as soon as we have a firm date for its release on iOS.
We thank all of our fans once again for their patience on this release, and we hope you’ll enjoy what we think will be the best The Walking Dead experience we could make! Remember, your choices, no matter how seemingly large or small – may all have an impact on your story as you play along with this episode, and within future episodes. Pay attention to the stats screen after the ending to see where you stood in the heat of the moment amid some critical moments among a vast network of other players trying to survive. Also, if you’re playing on your phone, iPad, or anywhere in public or in a loud environment – we strongly recommend the use of headphones! Lastly, we’ll leave you with one final game play hint for the uninitiated once you start playing… ‘Pillow!’
The Walking Dead: The Game will run on the iPad 2, the new iPad, iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S. iPhone 3GS owners should probably stick to Angry Birds.
