A few days ago, Microsoft confirmed that Magic 2013ย ,ย andย Rainbow Six Vegasย will both be available for free during the September “Games With Gold” promotion.
The promo kicks off with Magic 2013 akaย Magic: The Gathering – Duels of the Planeswalkers 2013ย which is nowย available for download to all Xbox Live Gold subscribers. Magic 2013 is highly regarded as a noteworthy Xbox Live Arcade title based off the popular Magic: The Gathering trading card franchise. This game will be available for free right up until August 15th.
Onย August 16th, the promo will continue withย Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Vegasย taking over as the free game for the rest of the month. Rainbow Six fans will recall this as being a memorable entry in the series and a certifiable hit for first-person shooter fans the world over.
With the announcement of this month’s Games with gold offerings, I feel like Microsoft is trying to offer a variety of options but they still fall short of expectations. While I don’t expect them to offer newer games, I am at least hoping that they start to improve on their choices as time goes on. The August promotion was a great step forward and by comparison this month seems like two steps backward.
