BioShock Infinite Burial At Sea Episode 2 Gets Stealthy ‘1998 Mode’

Irrational Games have today revealed that Episode 2 of their Bioshock Infinite DLC ‘Burial At Sea’ is getting a new difficulty mode, one in which players must complete the game stealthily.

The announcement was made over at the Irrational Games website and details the new mode and what it entails:

“Today, in conjunction with the upcoming DLC, BioShock Infinite: Burial at Sea – Episode Two releasing March 25th, we’re revealing the brand new 1998 Mode, which challenges gamers to complete the narrative using only non-lethal tools. This mode will be in addition to existing difficulty modes.

In Burial at Sea Episode Two we put a focus on balance and stealth mechanics. As we were developing this new style of gameplay, we started to see people self-impose non-lethal playthrough’s. Given the fan reception of 1999 Mode, we thought it would be cool to give them another way to play Burial at Sea that challenged their mastery of stealth tools.”

This ‘1998 Mode’ sounds it like it will be difficult, I don’t think playing that game stealthily will be for me but it is nice that they have included it for people who are interested in that sort of thing. Hopefully Burial At Sea Episode 2 is a great piece of DLC, that would be the perfect way to end for Irrational Games as we know and love them before they lay off most of their staff.

Would you be interested in playing this mode? Will you be getting Episode 2 at all? I’d love to here your thoughts on this in the comments section underneath.
