The PlayStation Network is now offline, reportedly due to a DDoS attack that occurred earlier this morning before going under maintenance tomorrow.
President of Sony Online Entertainment, John Smedley, has confirmed in a tweet that it was indeed a DDOS attack, and has said that it was a “large scale attack”.
We are under attack by a large scale ddos. Being dealt with but it will impact games until its handled.

PSN does seem to be up for some people, but for most it says “undergoing scheduled maintenance”. They have not given any ETA of when the service will be up, but should be up soon as they’re now working on it.
UPDATE
Sony Network Entertainment has reported that PSN service is returning, but you may experience slowness or login issues as the network stabilizes.
