During E3 2017, Techland Publishing made an important announcement regarding the future of their popular Dying Light video game franchise. Due to the large number of both new and returning fans who still play this title today, Techland has decided to offer continuous support through 10 free DLCs over the course of the next 12 months.
The above mentioned content will include new locations, story-driven quests, improved gameplay mechanics, weapons, enemies and more. Fans can also expect 4 community events per quarter and a dedicated community platform that will allow them to dictate further changes. Embedded below is a brief teaser video that highlights what fans can expect from the first free content drop scheduled to release soon.
Dying Light launched way back in January of 2015 and received both an expansion and enhanced edition in February of 2016. About half a million people still play the game every week. Techland’s decision to continuously support this title with free content proves that this project is a labor of love for them. This is a practice that many other development studios should consider when charging for additional content in their own games.
Are any of you still playing Dying Light? If so, are you happy that more free content is coming to the game? Please feel free to let us know your thoughts on this and more in the comments section below.
