The Making of a Wizard: An Interview with Crimes of Grindelwald‎’s Callum Turner

In 1997 Bloomsbury Publishing and Scholastic published a little-known book that was rejected twelve times. When it hit the shelves on June 26th, 1997, millions of children’s lives were changed as they stepped into the world of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. For the next ten years, fans were captivated by the struggles and triumphs of Harry, Hermione, and Ron.

From there Warners Brothers adapted the series into eight movies. However, author JK Rowling wasn’t ready to leave the magical world of wizards behind. In 2016, Warner Brothers adapted Rowling’s 2001 novel Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, an expansion of Harry Potter universe that follows that adventures of Newt Scamander while introducing us to the dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald who seeks to lead a new Wizarding Order.

On November 16th, Director David Yates and JK Rowling return with Crimes of Grindelwald, as he sets about gathering followers, most unsuspecting of his true agenda: to raise pure-blood wizards and witches up to rule over all non-magical beings.

Joining the fight is actor Callum Turner as Scamander’s older brother Theseus Scamander and well-respected Auror who finds himself personally involved in Grindelwald’s devious plot; resulting in a heavy burden to carry.
