DC Comics is launching a new six-issue miniseries called Batman: The Adventures Continue in April. Set in the world of the beloved show, the digital-first series is written by the show’s producers Paul Dini and Alan Burnett and illustrated by Ty Templeton, who worked on the show’s old tie-in comic series Batman Adventures.

The Emmy-award winning Batman: The Animated Series was an adaptation of the Dark Knight that spanned 85 epsiodes. Dini, Burnett, and Bruce Timm produced dramatic and heatbreaking episodes that honored The Dark Knight’s mythos while introducing new elements into it that eventually made their way to the pages of DC Comics, like Harley Quinn and Renee Montoya.

The comic book series will also introduces elements that wasn’t able to be included in the original show. Most notably, the character of Jason Todd. On B:TAS, he went straight from the Dick Grayson version of Robin to the third Boy Wonder, Tim Drake.

Then there’s Deathstroke who will be introduced into this series as well. He’ll be on a deadly mission for the Order of St. Dumas, and will have a confrontation with the Bat-family.

Dini also teased there will be another mystery villain with a deep hatred of the Caped Crusaders, watching Batman and his partners from a distance.

As of now, the first issue of this six part mini-series will deal with the fallout of the beloved Batman/Superman crossover episode “World’s Finest” which sees Lex Luthor return to Gotham City.
