Marvel’s Wolverine Trailer Is Deliciously Violent and Full of Easter Eggs, Reveals Liam McIntyre as Its Star

It’s been four years Marvel’s Wolverine video game was announced in September 2021, alongside Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 at PlayStation’s State of Play. Since then, fans have been eagerly waiting for an update, fearing the game would be cancelled.

But rest assure, Marvel’s Wolverine is still confirmed to release (now Fall 2026), and Sony Interactive Entertainment’s Insomniac Games in partnership with Marvel Games dropped a trailer and a featurette announcing Liam McIntyre as Wolverine/Logan.

Marvel’s Wolverine, “intends to deliver the ultimate Wolverine fantasy, with fast, fluid, and ferocious combat; exhilarating, action-packed set pieces, and a gripping story that taps into the core tenets of one of the most compelling comic book characters of all-time.”

“We aim to deliver the ultimate Wolverine fantasy built on Insomniac staples like fast, fluid, and ferocious combat; exhilarating, action-packed set pieces; robust accessibility features; and a gripping story that taps into the core tenets of one of the most compelling comic book characters of all-time,” Insomniac Games senior community manager Aaron Jason Espinoza said in a PlayStation blog post announcing the game. “We’re breaking new ground with Wolverine, yes, but our penchant for telling stories about heroes overcoming colossal odds is as strong as ever. We’re eager to explore Logan’s story with you and tap into his signature spin on heroism, which is much darker and more brutal than you might expect from Insomniac.”

As seen in the trailer above, Wolverine stated, “I’m not a violent man,” just before he coldly slices through and stabs several enemies throughout the trailer. The gameplay trailer convinces potential buyers that the game will not shy away from its violent comic origin and will feature action similar to the Spider-Man games. Wolverine is seen jumping off imploding skyscrapers and atop moving vehicles effortlessly, and an updated version of the yellow Deadpool & Wolverine costume.

Both Omega Red and Mystique make appearances, as does a massive, haunting mutant-hunting Sentinel featured as a cliffhanger ending. While it’s not disclosed the other X-Men cameos the game will feature, it’s safe to say, that’s not the only ones. And according to the behind-the-claws featurette (as seen below), there will be more comic features.
