This is the Victrola Journey Glow RGB suitcase record player. It has built-in stereo speakers, can stream vinyl to Bluetooth speakers and headphones, and can act as a Bluetooth receiver so you can play your other devices music through the Journey Glows speakers.
Music has come full circle in my 55 years on the planet. When I was a kid you had 8 track and vinyl. Then cassette tapes and the Walkman craze. That later evolved into the first digital format, Compact Disc. All of that was pretty much forgotten when Apple released the iPod. Now you could own and store music on a tiny box and take it everywhere with you. However, like the analog to digital cycle of movies, once music went to internet streaming, there was no turning back. Strangely enough, vinyl has sat back and survived all of the digital formats thanks to audiophiles and high end equipment.
If you were born in the late 90s and have never had the pleasure of listening to vinyl on high end equipment, you’ll never understand the love for it. It’s hard to explain but vinyl has an organic sound quality that is unmatched by anything digital. This is all in part to the differences in sound waves, but also the characteristics of vinyl’s dynamic range and the sounds coming from the record itself like the pops and ticks.
Victrola has been making record players for over 100 years. Yes, you heard that right. This company, which started off as Victor Talking Machine Company, has been making record players throughout the entirety of the digital music age, and they’ve been successful at it.
The Journey Glow is a bluetooth capable record player that comes in a suitcase. It has RGB lighting effects that also include a Sound reactive pulse mode. Nerds, techies and gamers alike, love RGB lighting and the Journey Glow gives you 18 different modes of lighting.
The Journey Glow also has it’s own stereo speakers with an integrated bass port. They are not of the highest quality, but if you don’t have a bluetooth speaker, they do the job just fine.
One of the best features of the Journey Glow is it’s ability to stream vinyl audio to bluetooth speakers and headphones. The quality of the sound was much better on my Altec Lansing Mix 2.0. It also sounded great on my Audeze Maxwell headphones. So keep in mind, the music is only going to sound as good as the system it’s playing out of.
Victrola has an entire lineup of awesome record players that tickle the fancy of any music fan or audiophile. The Journey Glow is not only is it a piece of nostalgia for your living room, it’s a fully capable Bluetooth music device. The Journey Glow is available now for $129 and it’s a great entry point into the world of vinyl.
