The Nikki & Brie Show stars Nikki and Brie Garcia visit The Jennifer Hudson Show, airing Monday, April 15. Nikki and Brie discuss turning 40 and how it was different from every other birthday. The twins tell Jennifer Hudson that it’s been “empowering” leaving behind their wrestler stage names, then explain how they nearly dated a set of twin brothers at the same time.
As seen in the video above the Garcia Twins (formerly known as the Bella Twins) discuss changing their names after leaving the WWE and forging their own path.
“It was scary when we decided to do it. I feel like anytime you have to make that decision, that big leap of faith you’re always like, ‘Okay are we going to fail? Or is this going to be successful.’ It’s been a year, it’s been really empowering. I have to tell you, to finally get our power back and not to have to answer to anyone and at 40 years old make your own decisions and be in charge of your own career, it’s been incredible,” said Nikki.
“There’s been times people mix us up. We’ll be in meetings or will people be like, ‘Bellas.’ I’ll be in meetings and I’m talking about us, so that part’s been tough. That was two decades of our life,” said Brie.
Nikki & Brie Garcia told PEOPLE, “We were representing our Italian roots for so long, and now we get to represent our Mexican, Latin roots,” Nikki tells PEOPLE in this week’s issue. “To be in the Garcia chapter, in God’s way, was the perfect time and path.” They exited the wrestling organization because “we got to a point where we just didn’t feel energetically aligned anymore with the WWE. There was a moment where her and I looked at each other and kind of felt, ‘You know what? We’re all not seeing eye to eye any more,'” Nikki says. “We didn’t even have to say it, we could just look at each other and feel it.”
This week, The Jennifer Hudson Show continues with “Young Sheldon” stars Iain Armitage, Montana Jordan, Raegan Revord, Lance Barber, Zoe Perry, Annie Potts and Emily Osment, “S’ABLE Labs” skincare founder and model Sabrina Elba, “Evolutions” music legend Sheryl Crow, Legend Series and “The Prank” icon Rita Moreno, dancers Val and Maks Chmerkovskiy, “ScottCares.Org” founder and Olympic gold medalist Scott Hamilton, and “Saturday Night Live” comedian Ego Nwodim.
