5 Upcoming Action Role-Playing Games Dropping In Q1 2025

Action role-playing games have been outstanding over the last several years and this trend will continue to be a main talking point in 2025. While we are still awaiting release date news for Elden Ring Nightreign, Lost Soul Aside, and other notable titles, a handful of heavy hitters are arriving over the next 3 months. Without further ado, here’s our list of 5 upcoming action role-playing games that might be worth checking out this quarter.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance II
Developer: Warhorse Studios
Publisher: Deep Silver
Platforms: Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC

Kingdom Come: Deliverance II is a single-player first-person perspective open-world action role-playing game set in 15th century Bohemia. This long-awaited sequel concludes the story of the lead protagonist Blacksmith Henry of Skalitz as he becomes a warrior fit for taking out the Emperor responsible for killing his family.

I previewed this game last September and walked away very impressed by how authentic the setting felt. If you loved the first game then you should already be making plans to check this out when it launches on February 4th for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.

Avowed
Developer: Obsidian Entertainment
Publisher: Xbox Game Studios
Platforms: Xbox Series X/S, and PC

Avowed is a single-player first-person and third-person perspective action role-playing game set in the world of Eora. Players take on the role of an envoy assigned to the Living Lands to investigate the origins of a mysterious plague.

Avowed was supposed to launch last year before getting moved to February 11th. If you’re a fan of Obsidian and have an Xbox Series X/S, PC, or Game Pass, then you have no reason not to check this out.

Monster Hunter Wilds
Developer: Capcom
Publisher: Capcom
Platforms: PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC

Monster Hunter Wilds is a single-player and multiplayer third-person perspective action role-playing game. Players take on the role of customizable Hunters who travel to the Forbidden Lands in search of various types of monsters.

Monster Hunter Wilds is already a strong candidate for GOTY and this excitement will grow even further now that a second beta has been announced. Players can look forward to the game when it launches on February 28th for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows
Developer: Ubisoft Quebec
Publisher: Ubisoft
Platforms: PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, macOS, iPadOS, and PC

Assassin’s Creed Shadows is a single-player action role-playing game set in 16th-century Japan towards the end of the Sengoku period. Players choose from two playable protagonists (Naoe and Yasuke) as they participate in the ongoing war between the Assassin Brotherhood and Templar Order.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows has been delayed multiple times and is very important to Ubisoft’s future as a company. While there have been missteps and miscommunication, diehard fans of this franchise are still eager to check it out. We will see if it delivers when it drops on March 20th for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, macOS, and iPadOS.

The First Berserker: Khazan
Developer: Neople
Publisher: Nexon
Platforms: PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC

The First Berserker: Khazan is a single-player action role-playing game and the next Dungeon & Fighter game. Players take on the role of Khazan after he is falsely accused of treason and banished to the snowy mountains.

With a demo planned for later this week, it will be interesting to see if more intrigued players are willing to give the game a chance. The First Berserker: Khazan launches on March 27th for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.

This concludes our list of 5 upcoming action role-playing games worth playing in Q1 2025. Which games are you looking forward to playing? Let us know in the comments section below.
