It’s been 173 days since the finale of the fourth season of Power Book III: Raising Kanan came to an end with the introduction of one major character and the possible death of another, as Patina Miller’s Raquel was (maybe?) gunned down by her own son, Kanan. While the series ended on a cliffhanger, it also introduced a fan favorite from the Power Universe that has never been seen on television before.
Shameik Moore joined the cast as the infamous Branford ‘Breeze’ Frady, the drug kingpin who mentored Kanan Stark, James ‘Ghost’ St. Patrick, and Tommy Egan but was shot in the back of the head by Ghost in an act of betrayal that allowed Ghost and Tommy to rise in the drug lifestyle.
“I killed Breeze because he got in the way of my future. What Kanan didn’t know, what Kanan couldn’t tell you, is that I gave Breeze one more chance. I asked him to change his mind. He didn’t… so he forced my hand. Kanan and Breeze meet for the first time.”

After the possible murder of Raquel, Kanan is ready to take a new path in life that will see him crossing over into adulthood and learning the rise of a kingpin is paved with many bodies, but maybe that’s how he likes it. In a shocking twist of events, the boy who thought he knew it all was played by Snaps and Pops, who slowly worked their lies and manipulation into Kanan’s everyday thoughts, making him believe Raquel was not only working against him but also killed his best friend, Famous, and Krystal. Snaps and Pops not only played Kanan by sent Kanan down a dangerous path he can never recover from that they may soon regret.
In a surprising move by STARZ, they released an action-packed, intense trailer that sees Kanan murdering someone, getting a gun pulled on him, and being involved in a shootout that declares, “Killers aren’t born; they’re raised.” While the teaser leaves behind many questions it also answers that Kanan is ready to do whatever it takes to survive, and the death of his mother was just the beginning.
As seen in the video above, in celebration of the Raising Kanan teaser trailer, The Koaliton dives into the teaser, giving insight into what it could mean for the finale, the Stark family, the introduction of Breeze, the mental stability of Unique, and more.
