Joseph Sikora Reveals A Power Movie Is in Development with Gary Lennon – Powercast Reaction

It all started on June 7th, 2011, when Starz premiered the pilot episode of Power, about James ‘Ghost’ St. Patrick, a drug kingpin succeeding (and failing) to balance career and family. The series also focused on his son, Tariq St. Patrick (Michael Rainey Jr.), his wife, Tasha St. Patrick (Naturi Naughton), and his two best friends, Tommy Egan (Joseph Sikora) and Kanan Stark (Curtis’ ’50 Cent’ Jackson), as they navigated betrayals, revelations, death, and complicated relationships. Led by Omari Hardwick, Power concluded after six seasons when James was murdered by his own son. While many series would have concluded there, the Power Universe only expanded with shows focusing on life after Ghost that followed Tariq (Power Book II: Ghost), Tommy (Power Book IV: Force), and even chronicled Kanan’s younger years (Power Book III: Raising Kanan). Upcoming shows are soon to follow that focus on Tariq and Tommy (Power: Legacy) joining forces and the childhood friendship between Kanan, Ghost, and Tommy (Power: Origins).

For over ten years, fans have been glued to their seats to tune into the shows from the Power Universe, and now they can finally look forward to the Power movie. In an exclusive interview with Gerard “HipHopGamer” Williams, Joseph Sikora revealed he and Power Book IV: Force showrunner Gary Lennon are working on the movie with hopes of it releasing soon.

While details are kept under wraps, Sikora stated, “Me and Gary are already starting to write the movie. We’re starting to flush it out a little bit, too. We got the idea and the story down. It’s super exciting. We hope everybody’s on board, but you have to start making these things, even if you don’t know if this is definitely going to happen. Everything, every journey of a thousand miles, starts with one step. So, we’ve begun to take those steps.”

In 2024, Starz revealed they signed Power Book IV: Force showrunner Gary Lennon to a new deal that will see him develop further extensions of the Power-verse. Kevin Beggs, Lionsgate Television Group chair and chief creative officer, said, “We look forward to extending our partnership as we collaborate with Starz to create new and unexpected franchise extensions for Power fans.”

Many questions arise from this reveal, including how does the movie fit into the universe, which characters are going to be included, and could this movie be the last hurrah for Tommy Egan? After killing Proctor in the original Power series, Proctor’s daughter, Elisa Marie, told Tommy she knows he killed her father, and Tommy told her if she ever decides she wants to see him about it, he will understand.  Could Elisa Marie avenge her father’s death all these years later?

As seen in the video above, our Entertainment Editor and Editor-in-Chief give their thoughts on the movie, speculate on the many directions the movie could go, which characters from the universe could be included, where the movie would fit in the timeline, and more.
