Can Angstrom Levy and Season 2 Save Invincible VS?

When I reviewed Invincible VS back in May, I said Quarter Up’s addictive tag fighter has a bright future. Unfortunately, things have changed over the last several months. The game’s sales have declined, and the company has suffered significant layoffs, including parting ways with Senior Combat Designer Rip.

As a fan of the game and this IP, I’m stunned and wondering where things go from here. With Evo France happening next weekend, Quarter Up announced that Season 2 of Invincible VS will drop on October 13th, featuring their third DLC character, Angstrom Levy. After watching this trailer, here are my thoughts on his arrival, the confirmed Season 2 package details so far, and whether or not I think this content will revive the game.

Invincible VS Season 2

If you don’t know already, Angstrom Levy is a major supervillain obsessed with traveling to any and every dimension to destroy Invincible. Described as the Master of the Multiverse, Angstrom is portrayed as a zoning-focused fighter who creates offensive and defensive portals to attack opponents and use his countless orbs. The trailer does a good job showing how his strategic attacks work with his partners, as well as his devastating finishing move, which sends his opponent through various dimensions. The character design, presentation, and combo moves all look impressive, and Levy is another character Rip worked on before his departure. Season 2 also includes a new mode and new skins, which we will hear more about soon.

Based on what I’ve seen so far, can playing as Angstrom Levy get players back into Invincible VS? Maybe, but time will tell. I’ve seen enough to know I definitely want to spend more time with the game. I’m also curious to see what this new mode is, which I believe could impact my overall experience. However, I think this game’s long-term success ultimately hinges on whatever is revealed for December’s Season 3 content.

Invincible VS Season 2

If you’ve watched the past season of Invincible, you already know who the most talked-about character on the show was. I would be surprised if he isn’t the fourth and final DLC character, as I think he could definitely add more life to the game. Of course, with any ongoing fighting game, listening to community feedback and continuing to support the game with fresh content is key. With the team being scaled back now, it will be interesting to see how they navigate through these challenging times. Regardless of what happens, I’ll continue supporting the game until the time is up. Stay tuned for more details on Invincible VS as we learn more.

Are any of you still playing Invincible VS, or have you already moved on? Does this new content make you want to dive back? Let us know your thoughts on these topics and more.
