The director of Final Fantasy X & X-2 HD Yoshinori Kitase has said that there could be further HD remakes of previous Final Fantasy games if X & X-2 HD are a success.
Talking with RPGSite, Kitase said: “We’ll have to wait and see if these remasters are going to be successful, first,” Kitase said. “If they do well, I think this will pave the way for more of the previous games to remade in an HD sort of quality.”
“I mean, if we had to single out one of the vast number of Final Fantasy titles which we could make in HD, it would have to be Final Fantasy 12,” he replied.
“I was not involved in the project, though, so we can’t really comment on that. What I can say though is that I hope the remastering of 10 and 10-2 will trigger similar projects for more of the past games.”
This is great news, HD remakes of previous games are a fantastic thing to spur new life into old games and to get new people to experience the classics, the more the merrier. I’m certain that the new HD verison will be a success so I guess that means we should be on the look out for FF 12 HD news in the next couple of years. Great!
Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster is coming to the Vita and PS3 on December 31 2013.
