The Bureau: XCOM Declassified Revealed, Releases on August 20th

Earlier this morning, 2k Games finally released details on the long delayed third-person shooter set around the popular XCOM franchise. That game is The Bureau: XCOM Declassified and it is slated to hit the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC on August 20th. Above is the first official live action teaser trailer for the game.

To put things bluntly, XCOM Declassified has experienced several setbacks ever since the game first went into development back in 2006. Originally created as a first-person shooter, the game has since been transformed into a third-person squad-based tactical shooter. 2k Marin is still very much in the drivers seat and is promising a truly unique experience that will build skills and push players to their limit. The premise of XCOM Declassified will focus on the origins of the XCOM organization during the heightened Cold War time period. Below are a few screenshots taken directly from the game for you to check out.

I recall attending E3 a few years ago and being excited to finally see and learn more about this game. Unfortunately, the game 2k showed at the time was XCOM: Enemy Unknown instead and I have since been wondering what exactly happened to this game. Now after hearing more about this game, I’m not entirely certain if I even care about it still. Not only is the game coming out extremely late in this console generation, but it’s also coming out on the same exact day as both Saints Row IV and Splinter Cell: Blacklist. Still, my guess is that most XCOM fans won’t care about that and still will opt to buy the game anyway because they enjoy the series.
