TESO-subscription

Turn Based, The RPG Podcast 21: Is Pay-to-Play for TESO a Good Idea?

by on September 5, 2013

On this episode of Turn Based, the RPG Podcast we welcomed Kenneth Seward Jr. from United Front Gaming. We spoke in length about the subscription model for The Elder Scrolls Online (TESO) and our gripes with it. Although we feel Bethesda could have tried a different business model, we do believe that the monthly subscription will correctly compensate Bethesda/ZeniMax for their hard work. But Is it a good idea? Will it eventually go free-to-play? Let us know how you feel about it.

Also on the agenda we discussed the benefits of Diablo 3 coming to console. Diablo is a well known IP, and we believe that its arrival on console is positive for the future of gaming.

Kotaku published an interesting article called “The 20 JRPGs You Must Play” and while it’s a great list, there are many games we felt should have been included. Do you agree with the list? Or perhaps you disagree with one of our own personal choices. If so let us know in the comments.

Other games discussed on this show include Tales of Xillia and Final Fantasy XIV, two games we will have reviews for in the coming weeks. Be sure to take a listen and share your feedback. Also check out David’s Top 5 Action RPGs of this Generation as it relates to some of our discussions on the show.
