Kingdom Hearts 2.5 HD ReMIX Announced, Coming to PS3 in 2014

Square Enix today revealed Kingdom Hearts 2.5 HD ReMIX and announced that it will be coming exclusively to the PS3 in 2014.

The reveal can be found over at the PS Blog where the news was delivered by Square Enix’s Associate Product Manager Mat Kishimoto.

Much like the previous KH 1.5 HD ReMIX, the game will feature the Japanese version of the main game (this time KH2). Additionally the game includes the Japanese version of the PSP game Birth By Sleep and Re:coded, which is a collection of HD cutscenes.

  • Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix — previously on PS2 and exclusive to Japan
  • Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep Final Mix — previously on PSP and exclusive to Japan
  • Kingdom Hearts Re:coded (HD remastered cinematics)

Although it is nice to see them supporting their fans like this, I can’t help but think that it is pointless adding in the PSP games in these packages. Surely they realize that people only wanted the HD versions of the main games. They should have just released a package that included KH1 and KH2 in HD, then people wouldn’t have to buy these two games separately.

Are you excited for the release of Kingdom Hearts 2.5 HD ReMIX? Let me know in the comments. I’m interested to hear if you agree that they shouldn’t have separated these games.
