Crytek co-founder Avni Yerli recently spoke on the possibility of bringing back TimeSplitters. He mentioned that they were pondering how to bring the franchise back, but that no concrete plans had been made yet.
“Obviously Timesplitters, historically, was for [Free Radical/Crytek UK] an important IP,”
Yerli told NowGamer.
“From our perspective we always had a lot of fun playing Timesplitters – Timesplitters 2 was amazing fun. Crytek and Crytek UK are interested in the IP; we are thinking about it but we’re trying to decide what we could do best with the IP, where we could bring it. There are no concrete plans yet.”
He’s right about TimeSplitters being fun. I remember having the game years ago, and me and my friend would build the smallest level we could make, fill it up with shooters and have fun trying to survive. I never got around to playing TimeSplitters 2 but I hear it was even better than the first game. With new generation tech I would love to see what Crytek would do with the series today. A new TimeSplitters from the makers of Crysis 2? Sound’s like a thing of beauty. Yerli also mentioned recently that a reveal of Crytek UK’s next game would come either at or just after E3.
