PopCap is a pretty big name in casual gaming these days with huge hits like Plants vs. Zombies, Bejeweled, Peggle and many others. EA purchased this very successful company today for $650 million and will be distributing another $100 million in shares to some stockholders. There are many other conditions and stipulations that could end up increasing or decreasing the price of this deal, but one fact is clear: EA has made yet another big move in the gaming space. Overall this is probably great news for PopCap, as EA has the resources to really help them expand and flourish.
