Snake’s story may be over, but the complex world and gripping narrative of the Metal Gear Solid Series is just getting started. With the announcement of Sony PSP2 ( codename NGP) last night, news is starting to surface regarding upcoming titles currently being developed for the platform. CVG has reported some key statements made by Hideo Kojima regarding the innovation of the PSP2 and the hint of a new game reveal during E3. Could this be the next sequel in the Metal Gear Solid franchise?
“When we launched Peace Walker for PSP, this is what I said: In the near future there will be a world of cloud computing… I really believe that you can have a portable MGS and Peace Walker was an experiment for the cloud computing future. NGP allows this cloud computing.”
“What I’d like to realize is playing on your PS3, and when you go out, you put the game on your NGP, and when you come back home, you can once again use your PS3 and large screen TV.”
“This dream is going to come true in the near future. And right now, I’m working on this project of the dream. I’m sorry, I can’t reveal this now. But we’d like to present what we’re doing at E3”
Further analysis on the matter can be found on the Kojima’s production website, where a job posting has all but confirmed the sequel is in development. The title reads looking for staff for the “next generation Metal Gear Solid series”. Of course knowing Kojima, he may have another idea in mind besides Metal Gear, but it’s way too early to tell. For now, just sit back and wait till E3 rolls around to see if in fact this game is real or not.
